Mardi Gras #2

I took all of these photos with my new phone and I'm still learning how to adjust the brightness and resolution.
1. K-Gerg with what appears to be a nice glass of metamucil...or a nice non-alcoholic hurricane so she could drive to her soccer match
2. Yummy Potato wedges
3. Ryan and Cheryl
Most of these photos were taken early when the crowd was thin - I think we had over ten, which is a decent size for my apartment (its no Thanksgiving crowd, that's for sure).

Mardi Gras #1

I decided to have a themed party every month and collectively call them the "Farewell Parties" to countdown to the date that I move or don't move from Shepherdstown. Last month's party was a Mexican Fiesta, complete with Mexican-style rice, Tlalpeno soup, chimichangas, black bean cakes, and I forget what kind of drink Heather made. There was also plenty of Latin music, although most of it came from Puerto Rico and not Mexico.
This month's party was a Mardi Gras celebration with gumbo, jambalaya, apple cookies (we opted out of beignets), battered boardwalk wedges, hurricanes, and a king cake. There was plenty of dixieland, brass band, and zydeco music.

Here we have my king cake - I used a monkey instead of a baby because I couldn't find a baby; Heather's gumbo; my jambalaya

Baking

For Cheryl's birthday (which was in November) I decided to bake a bread or bread-like-product every month. So far I've made some nice things and meant to take photos of them but didn't; November was Challah, December was banana muffins, January was rustic olive rosemary bread, and this month I made orange pumpkin cloverleafs. Here's a photo of them. I'll try to take photos of the others to come...

More photos soon - - - there's a Mardi Gras party at my house this weekend!
